Worship types

Imagine yourself, by the end of this life,
standing in front of this imposing presence,
looking at you with eyes like flames of fire.
Imagine that as you’re figuring out who this person is,
you’re instantly replaying the movie of your entire life in your head.
Remembering the good, the bad and the ugly.

Just as Job who was ready to question God in his moments of pain,
imagine you, now, in front of Him,
ready to open your mouth and speak your mind.

Now if I had one question or one thing I’d like to know, dear God, strangely it wouldn’t start with a “why” since Job already did that but it would start with a “how”.
Like “how do you feel when you receive back true worship,
true, genuine, authentic expression of love?

…We often take this type of love for granted
but throughout His Word it is clear.
He can tell the fake from the real.

“These people honour me with their lips but their hearts are far from me” would probably sound today something like,
“They go to church every Sunday, but Monday till Saturday their hearts are far from me.”
or “They claim to be Christ-followers but they only follow me on social media.”
or “They have only heard my story and just know about me,
but they don’t know me intimately.”
or “They call me Lord, but the only Lord I see in their hearts is their own self.”

He says “All who love me will do what I say. Anyone who doesn’t love me will not obey.”

…I mean surely it’s easier said than done,
to always focus on The One,
but this specific One taught us how to watch and pray saying

“Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come
thy will be done…”

Thy will be done. Not mine but thy will be done.

So this question still remains:
why do we keep calling Him “Lord, Lord!”
when we don’t do what He says?

Maybe some of us know Him as Saviour of our souls
but we have yet to accept Him as Lord of our lives

…Now hearing all these,
I had to become my own personal doctor and test myself
because as Paul wrote to the Corinthians,
I had to examine myself,
to see if I look hot,
or if I look cold
or if I’m just lukewarm…

Since we are talking about looks and about truly worshipping God, I had to sit back and wonder.
How does this type of worship look like?
I’d say this is the type of worship that will take you back to the battles you’ve won just to remind you, that you were not alone.
I’d say this is the type of worship that will make you look back and see what God has brought you from.
I’d say this is the type of worship that King David, a man of God’s own heart, would use to cry out to the Lord just like a best friend.
I’d say this is the type of worship that makes you realise that,
the things and people you have in life right now,
were once part of a silent prayer in the back of your head…

…This is the type of worship I’d say we are talking about.
The type of worship that doesn’t need a reason or incentive to be expressed,
simply because when you think of all these things you realise how much you’re truly blessed.

Please don’t misunderstand me because it is true that:
“When the praises go up, the blessings come down”,
but give me this chance to say that this relationship is based on more than just a transaction of giving praises in order to receive blessings.

We all know that life can sometimes be easy
and it can sometimes be tough
but I’d say this is the type of worship that just happens because
my God, you have already done enough.”

Stay blessed,
Prince
